After every season there are numerous free agents and many decisions to be made. Typically the Packers are not very active in free agency, but would rather try and build through the draft. In my opinion, this has worked well offensively, but not as well for the defense. It could be in Green Bay’s best interest to look into signing a veteran defensive back in hopes of bringing not only the physicality, but some additional leadership that the defense is lacking. We will take a look at the list of veteran free agents available in the next few weeks.
The Packers have a total of twenty free agents this offseason. There aren’t too many big names but there are some guys that the Packers should definitely try to hold on to. Here is the list of free agents in 2014:
-Sam Shields -Andrew Quarless
-B.J. Raji -John Kuhn
-Evan Dietrich-Smith -Johnny Jolly
-Mike Neal -James Starks
-James Jones -Ryan Pickett
-Matt Flynn -Jamari Lattimore
-C.J. Wilson -Robert Francois
-Chris Banjo -Jermichael Finley
-M.D. Jennings -Marshall Newhouse
-Seneca Wallace -Kahlil Bell
Over the next few weeks I will provide a breakdown of the depth at each position and whether or not it is financially worth keeping a certain player. I will also give updates on any contract negotiations involving key free agents.
